Earnings gaps on the watchlist
Candidates for an Episodic Pivot: a stock that gaps up hard on surprise earnings. The bot buys a break of the opening range high and sizes the trade by confidence.

Trading mode
Paper: the IBKR paper account, no real money.
Go-live checks (all must pass before Live can be chosen):
On Live: the first 20 live trades are capped at 0.5% risk (D17); every hard limit applies (rule 8). A switch to Live takes effect at the next pre-market start (04:00 New York), never mid-session.

One-time code (valid 5 minutes):
Switch back to paper? New live entries stop at once. Open live positions keep their stops at IBKR and the bot keeps managing their exits until they are closed.
Appearance
Auto follows this device's light or dark setting. Saved on this device only, so the iPhone and the Mac can differ.
Safety
Open positions keep their stops and exits. Only new buys stop.
Pause new entries? The bot will skip all signals until you resume.
Risk per trade
Risk = money lost if the stop is hit, as % of account equity.
Limits
Largest single position as % of equity. Hard limits: 6 positions, 25% each, 3% total open risk.
Entry filter
Buy when price trades above the high of the first 5-minute bar (09:30–09:35 New York).
Exit plan
Sell the rest when the 15:50 New York price is below this moving average. Other exits are tested as shadow variants.

Terms
- Episodic Pivot (EP)
- A big gap up on news such as surprise earnings, often the start of a new trend.
- Opening range high (ORH)
- Highest price in the first minutes of trading. Breaking it is the entry signal.
- R multiple
- Profit measured in units of initial risk. +2R means twice the amount risked.
- Shadow variant
- A rule change the bot tests on paper next to the live rules, without trading it.
Changes create a new settings version and apply from the next trading day.
